Rangers of Shadow Deep

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on February 21, 2022 by RichardFebruary 21, 2022

A kingdom stands on the brink of destruction, as the vast realm called the Shadow Deep slowly swallows everything in its path. As the army fights to contain the tide of evil creatures teeming up out of the black clouds, the kingdom’s best soldiers, the rangers, must venture down into the shadows to gather information, rescue prisoners, and ambush enemy supply lines. It is a desperate fight against overwhelming odds, but every little victory brings another day of hope.

Lee (archer), Brian (wimpy magic slinger), Jim (who knows) and Richard (tank), played a three apart initial scenario campaign.

Rangers of Shadow Deep is a solo and co-operative tabletop miniatures game, in which players create their ranger, gather companions, and play through a series of missions in their fight to hold back the darkness. If their rangers survive, they will grow in power and ability, and be sent on more difficult, dangerous and intricate assignments.

Battle Masters – Campaign (pt 1)

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on February 21, 2022 by RichardFebruary 22, 2022

Brian and Lee played the Evil Chaos army and Richard The Glorious Empire. Four games were played for the campaign with the Glorious Empire winning the first two and the Evil Chaos army the second two. The last tie breaker remains to be seen. And yes.. the minis are unpainted.. trying to play the game in the spirit of a 20 year old cross over between Warhammer Miniatures and Milton Bradley boardgames…

Battle Masters is a fantasy miniatures battle game by Milton Bradley, presumably licensed from Games Workshop. The sizeable game box comes stuffed with tons of plastic miniatures, a deck of combat cards and some dice. Players move and fight their armies based upon what card is turned over from the deck. Combat is held on a large vinyl mat 4.5 ft square (Actual Measurements: 55 inches by 57 inches).

From the back of the box:

Welcome to the world of Battle Masters – the epic game where you command mighty armies locked in a legendary conflict of good versus evil!

The noble Imperial Army is ready to meet the Forces of Chaos. You and your opponent must strategically guide 25 army units, featuring over 100 finely-detailed figures, across the gigantic 4 1/2′ X 5′ Battle Mat. Beware! Ditches, marshes, river fords and the great Border Tower lie before you.

The battle unfolds as each turn of a Battle card tells which army units can move and which can attack. Will your army be victorious, or will your opponent destroy you? Who will survive the battle and win the game? The fate of the Empire is decided by you, the Battle Masters!

Star Wars Rebellion – Thursday Game Day

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 28, 2022 by RichardJanuary 28, 2022

Lee (rebel scum) and Richard (Empire) did a learning game of Star Wars Rebellion. We became highly efficient in the game mechanics.

The rebel scum outfoxed the glorious Empire by going against Lee’s character and doing what rebel scum were suppose to do…

The game is completely entertaining and a good game to play repeatedly. We left the game components setup for next Thursday.

Wings of Glory – Four Aeroplane Mashup and Star Wars Rebellion

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 24, 2022 by RichardJanuary 25, 2022

This weekend the Krauts took on the Limeys. The German consisted of Jimmy ”bumper plane – Albatros” and Richard “the Red Baron – Fokker” versus Lee “lost another expensive plane – Sopwith ” and Jerry “the yo-yo – Spad”. Jim spent most of the game colliding with other aircraft including his own teammates. The others did traditional dogfighting. The Baron finished off the Sopwith (whose commander wouldn’t give him another plane) while Crash and Burn finally got a shot off finishing off the Baron’s work on the Spad

Next, Jim, Lee and Richard tried a practice Star Wars Rebellion game by Fantasy Flight Games. The game is very similar to Twilight Imperium by the same company. This game will be on the weekday play list.
