Napoleon at Waterloo …. 1:00 – 1:30

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on June 6, 2022 by RichardJune 7, 2022

Waterloo campaign from 12:00 PM. Jerry is the British and Jim (left wing) and Richard (right wing). Awaiting Lee with his Prussians and Brian with the reserve to enter the arena. Carnage and Glory Rules (June 5, 2022)

1:00pm

The field quiets as gun go largely silent following a 30 minute barrage of La Haye Saint by the combined artillery of the Guard.

Kellerman is ordered to move his Cavalry Corps around to the southwest of Hougoumont, as the 1st Brigade of Foy’s 9th Division moves to the southern facing of that farm.

D’Erlon’s I Corps, supported by Milhaud’s cuirassiers step off towards the British main line to their front, Picton and the rest of that line having pulled behind the ridge on the reverse slope.

Throughout the area around Papelotte continues with minor sparing by Durette and French light horse.

1:30pm

Sensing unpreparedness on the Allied line, three brigades of cuirassiers charge into Best and neighboring units.  Behind the crest, the Allies cannot get off enough fire and fall back in disorder.  Only Pack’s brigade managed square and repulses the French charge.

To the west, a coordinated attack by Reille dislodges the British Guards out of the Hougoumont Farm.  The objective taken, several French Brigades will be forced to recover and regroup from the hard fighting.

Napoleon at Waterloo …. 11:00 – 12:00

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on May 29, 2022 by RichardJune 7, 2022

Waterloo campaign up to 12:00 PM. Jerry is the British and Jim (left wing) and Richard (right wing). Awaiting Lee with his Prussians and Brian with the reserve to enter the arena. At this point, no advantage to either side.  Carnage and Glory Rules (May 28, 2022)

The French 1st Cavalry Division began a feint on the French right flank vs scatter Nassau troops in the vicinity of Papelotte.

Meanwhile, Napoleon orders forward the Guard Artillery intent on forming a grand battery against the Allied center.  Seeing the Dutch along the road running east from La Haye Saint pulling back behind the ridge line, D’Erlon also begins to move forward his guns

11:00 AM

The French 1st Cavalry Division began a feint on the French right flank vs scatter Nassau troops in the vicinity of Papelotte.

Meanwhile, Napoleon orders forward the Guard Artillery intent on forming a grand battery against the Allied center.  Seeing the Dutch along the road running east from La Haye Saint pulling back behind the ridge line, D’Erlon also begins to move forward his guns

On the French left flank, Reille begins to deploy guns for bombardment of Hougoumont Farm, while Jerome is ordered to attack the Nassau forces in the woods to his front.  Wellington begins to bring forward forces to cover the northwestern side of the Farm.

Noon

D’Erlon deploys his and the Guard Artillery along the rise running to his front, and a duel between his and Picton’s batteries along their line erupts.  An hour of bombardment causes little loss on both sides, although both armies guns slow in pace as fatigue sets in.

The Nassau troops fronting the Hougoumont rout, but not before inflicting significant losses on four regiments of Jerome and Foy.

Raphia at ConSimWorld Expo

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on May 14, 2022 by RichardMay 14, 2022

Jim and I attended the ConSimWorld Expo (board games) in Allen Texas (near Dallas).. Setup the game as a demo. Interesting, some just couldn’t understand the concept of using a movement stick instead of hexes (just wouldn’t work 🥴)…

Weird War // – Antarctica Airbase

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on May 2, 2022 by RichardMay 2, 2022

Brian brought his Weird War // American marines raid on the German Antarctic airbase. Lee and Jerry played the marines and Jim, Chris and Richard playing the Germans. The marines neutralized most of the sentries except for one. They then blew up the anti-aircraft walker and the Germans were alerted. The Germans immediately called for reinforcements. After numerous fire fights, the marines called in Captain America and Bunky. The German reinforcements arrived and proceeded to attack Captain America et al. The eliminated Bunky and then Captain America went down. The demoralized Americans faded back into the darkness.
