Dune: War for Arrakis

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 31, 2024 by RichardJanuary 31, 2024

From the designers of the War of the Ring board game comes the thematic strategy board game Dune: War for Arrakis. Centered around the Desert War events from the acclaimed Dune novel by Frank Herbert, this universe and its iconic characters are brought to life for the first time with a myriad of amazing miniatures. The devious House Harkonnen, with the backing of imperial House Corrino, must battle the remnants of House Atreides, who are allied with the desert Fremen, for control of Arrakis and its most precious resource: the spice melange.

As war rages on, House Harkonnen must dominate Arrakis and keep the spice flowing, lest they lose the support of the great powers of the Imperium. Meanwhile, the young Atreides leader-turned-messiah, Paul-Muad’Dib, must wrestle with his prescient visions and find his path between the fate of Arrakis, the inexorable jihad, and the destiny of the Kwisatz Haderach.

This is still in production but I have assembled the painting examples for all the figures.

Cyberpunk 2077

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 31, 2024 by RichardJanuary 31, 2024

Cyberpunk 2077: Gangs of Night City is a competitive game in which 1 to 4 players take on the role of ruthless gangs vying for control of the underground in the glittering hellhole that is Night City. Clash with other Gangs in the meat or on the Net, as your enterprising band of toughs seeks to gain dominance over the criminal underworld that rules the streets. Only the boldest will be remembered, and your Street Cred will pave your way to the top.

‘This is a Kickstarter addition from CMON. The figures were catalogued, packages and shipped to Sri Lanka for painting. The painting examples for all the figures can be found under the Out for Painting tab.

Ankh: Two Capitals

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 12, 2024 by RichardJanuary 12, 2024

The cities of Thebes a Memphis are continuously under siege by the faithful, as well as, the political. To win the populous over, Gods are determined to focus their might and miracles upon the two great cities.

Lee (Osiris). Richard (Amun) and Steve (Isis) played. Initially, Osiris occupied the territory around Memphis  and gained additional token for his reinforcements. Osiris eventually, turned them into the control of two monuments. To counter this, Amun occupied Thebes neutralizing any of Osiris’ advantage.

Meanwhile, Isis took advantage of this stalemate by occupying as many territories as possible to gain a commanding lead in devolutions. But, every combat event saw Amun battling Osis and eliminating his figures. During the last few turn sequences, Amun surge in devotions, and on the last round just happened to have one more devotion than Osis.

Ankh: The Old Kingdom (3 players)

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on January 10, 2024 by RichardJanuary 12, 2024

At the dawn of the great pyramids, Egypt prepares for the initial major clash of the gods.

Steve (Anubis), Lee (Osiris) and Richard (Amun). We decided not to use the merge god rule. Amun won the game followed by Anubis then Osiris. The time track ran out with Amun one devotion away from the top.
