Dune Imperium: Uprising

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on February 13, 2024 by RichardFebruary 13, 2024

Trying out a new game, Dune Imperium Uprising. Almost totally well reviewed.

In Dune: Imperium Uprising, you want to continue to balance military might with political intrigue, wielding new tools in pursuit of victory. Spies will shore up your plans, vital contracts will expand your resources, or you can learn the ways of the Fremen and ride mighty sandworms into battle!

Arrakis. Dune. Desert Planet. Home to the most precious resource in the universe—the spice melange. After betraying and destroying House Atreides, the Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV has given House Harkonnen control over the planet Arrakis once more.

But a mysterious warrior named Muad’Dib has risen to power among the Fremen, threatening the schemes of the Emperor and his allies. Other factions have taken notice, as the conflict on Arrakis has reached a breaking point. What was once a blood feud between rival Great Houses has become something greater. From lowly smugglers to Bene Gesserit sisters to the Emperor himself, many have critical roles to play in determining the future of the Imperium. As always, one thing remains true:
Whoever controls the spice controls the universe…

The choices are yours. The Imperium awaits!

Destinies: First Two Scenarios

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on February 6, 2024 by BizzbumFebruary 6, 2024

Jim, Lee and Richard played the first two scenarios of Destinies. The computer generated moderation and card scanning worked faultlessly. The miniatures are a bit small.
Jim won the Nature of the Beast scenario.
Jim must have been cheating 😜 since he also won the Feast of Famine scenario.

Destinies

Central Texas Board Game and Miniatures Posted on February 2, 2024 by RichardFebruary 2, 2024

Destinies is a competitive, story-driven, game of adventure and exploration, mixing an app and a board game.

The first in a series of games using a brand-new system called Destinies. This game is set in a dark medieval-fantasy universe.

The Destinies system offers a fully story-driven, app-supported, RPG-like board game experience, without the need for a game master. Each scenario depicts a part of a vivid world, full of dark stories, epic NPCs and mysteries to solve. Each player takes the role of a hero on a quest to fulfill their destiny. Each destiny is a final goal of the character and has at least two, completely different paths to victory, composed of branching series of quests. Players compete with each other to push the world towards their own destiny.

The game uses an app and the Scan&Play technology to offer players a unique story-driven experience full of dynamic events, epic adventures, and an ever-changing game world. Each turn players discover new parts of the world presented on tiles, explore them and pick one point of interest to visit. There they learn more about the story and make crucial choices of how they want to interact with people, creatures or situations faced there. The consequences of each choice are meaningful and often change the state of the world forever.
