Noon D’Erlon deploys his and the Guard Artillery along the rise running to his front, and a duel between his and Picton’s batteries along their line erupts. An hour of bombardment causes little loss on both sides, although both armies guns slow in pace as fatigue sets in. The Nassau troops fronting the Hougoumont rout, but not before inflicting significant losses on four regiments of Jerome and Foy.
