Chain of Command – Securing St-Come-du-Mont (pt 2)
A meeting engagement of the American 101st Airborne (Richard and Lee) and German Waffen SS (Jim and Brian). The airborne occupied the towne and and an adjacent hill. The Americans repulsed an initial attacked on the towne and destroyed a PAK. The Germans then brought in a heavy mortar and pinned the Americans and preceded to kill off the Americans in the towne. The Americans surrendered and later were found in a mass grave. SS-Obersturmführer Dumeister was later convicted of war crimes after the war but got off on a legal technicality and migrated to Argentina to become a children’s war game author.
Look at that excellent use of protecting one’s flank by using the board edge! That commander is one magnificent bastard! 😉
Brian
Too bad the fallback rule about retreating 180 degrees back from the attack wasn’t enforced.. like off the board edge.. one magnificently court-martialed bastard 🥴
Great article.
