Ancient Civilisations of the Middle East
We played a game Sunday and Tuesday.
Sunday game was a 5 player scenario. Jim, Lee, Richard, Steve and Wayne,. Everyone initially caused natural disasters and civil unrest in Eqypt (Richard). Jim (Scythian) invaded Egypt from the fair eastern side of the board. The Hittities attached the Egyptian fleets. Meanwhile, the middle civilizations were allowed to flourish. Jim fighting now a two front war (plus barbarians), ended up in next to last place, Egypt finished last, Scythian fourth, the Hittites,(who isolated themselves) third, while the Assyrians took second and Wayne (Medie-Persia) was the winner by only one victory point over second. Hugh gap between the top two and the rest of us meer mortals.
Tuesday’s game was a three player scenario Lee (Hittite), Richard (Egypt) and Steve (Assyrian). Once again everyone tried to wipe out the Egyptians (who later came back with a vengeance but a sudden end of the 4th Epoch on the first turn dashed all hope). The Assyrians took first, hollowed by Egypt and finally the Hittites.
ACME is and interesting game and quite brutal at times, A civilisation can go from the most powerful to a wreck in a flash (but its VP will remain). All you need is a good disaster.
